Shermanbury Parish Council – Your Connection to the County and District Councils who provide the services we all rely on.

This first non-political tier of Government, fights the resident’s corner to improve our Parish.

  • The Neighbourhood Plan that helps to protect the Parish.
  • Road traffic measures to reduce speed.
  • Opposition to Lithium-ion battery storage in Wineham due to safety concerns.
  • Ongoing flood prevention programmes on the A281.
  • Management of the Parish cemetery.
  • Tidy up programmes to keep pathways open.

But there is more to do:

  • We need a Design Statement to guide planners on the most appropriate plan for new buildings.
  •  We need to influence the design of green energy projects in Wineham to minimize the inconvenience to homeowners and ensure safety standards are high on planner agendas.
  • We need to oppose huge new housing developments on the low weald and their potential negative impact on the environment, flooding in particular.
  • The Neighbourhood Plan will need updating to maintain its legal standing.

Next parish meeting 7pm on the 28th July 2025 at the Bull, Please contact the Parish Clerk at email:  shermanbury@pcouncil.co.uk to express an interest and find out more.
